This is a tutorial on inserting shapes into your Google Docs Documents. In this tutorial, I will show you how to insert shapes, change the color of shapes, and more. If you are new to using Google Docs Documents, this tutorial will get you started with the shapes section. It is best to create a new document to practice on with this tutorial. Create a new document by clicking File > New > Document.

How to Draw Shapes into Google Docs Documents

You will first need to open your drawing box. Go to the top of your document and click Insert gt; Drawing. That will open the drawing box. Now you will need to click the arrow beside the circle and square icon. When the box drops down, select the shape that you want to draw. That box will close and now you will need to use your mouse to draw your shape. Hold your mouse down and draw the shape the size you want it. Then let go of your mouse when you are finished.

How to Change the Color of Your Shape in Google Docs Documents

Now I will show you how to change the color of your shapes. To change the fill color of your shapes, you will need to click your shape to select it. Then click the arrow beside the paint bucket icon. When the color box opens, select the color you want to fill the shape with. Once you click the color, it will be applied and the box will close. You can also change the border color of the shape. To change the border color, you will need to click the shape again to select it. Then you will need to click the arrow beside the pen icon. That will open the border color box and you will need to select your color by clicking it. The box will then close and the border color will be changed.

Inserting the Shape into Your Document

Now that you have created the shape, you are ready to insert it into your document. At the top of your drawing box you will see the Save and Close button. Click that button and your box will close. You will now see your drawing in your document.

Editing Your Shape Once You Have Inserted It

After you have inserted the shape into the document, you can edit it at any time. To edit the shape, click it to select it. You will see a box appear below it. In that box, you will need to click the Edit link. That will open the drawing box and you can edit your shape in there. Then click Save and Close button once you are finished.
