The Wolf Among is an interactive fantasy graphic adventure game made by Telltale Games. The game is segmented into an episodic format where each episode constitutes a particular act in the story. It was released on a host of different platforms such as Microsoft Windows, Mac OS X, Playstation 3, Playstation 4, Playstation Vita, Xbox 360, Xbox One, Android, and iOS.

The game is based heavily off of the Fable comic book series by Bill Willingham. Characters from the comics make appreances inside the game as well story and character references to the Fable series. The game has received great crticial acclaim winning awards from BAFTA and NAVGTR as well gaining a sizable cult following.

Story

The story follows the Fable comic book series and its universe. The game takes place twenty years before the plot of the Fable comic books in the year 1986. The story focuses on an area of Manhattan known commonly as Fabletown where a large number of fairy tale creatures have taken refuge from the outside world.  The game’s main protagonist is town’s investigator Sheriff Bigby Wolf known also by his fairy tale name the “Big Bad Wolf”. After a town’s local resident is murdered Bigby is involved in solving the case and uncovering the town’s seedy mysteries.

Graphics

The game’s graphics are beautifully rendered with purple and pink color themes throughout the game. The game has very comic book like art style with detective noir elements such as the use of shadows and lighting. The graphics really bring out all the different mythical characters and the fantasy environments around them to life.

Sound

The Wolf Among Us features a very decadent soundtrack with soothing jazz arrangements, mystical orchestral pieces, and hard hitting action oriented music. The voice acting is performed well and all the characters are represented well.

Gameplay

The Wolf Among Us features that standard Telltale games formula from the previous game where you must choose dialogue trees to advance the story as well as solve puzzles and engage in action oriented quick time events where buttons prompts have to be pressed.

Conclusion

The Wolf Among Us is a fantastic game if you’re in the mood for something a little different. Memorable storytelling, stellar characters and beautiful visuals makes this a game to suit just about anyone.
